If you have a driveway or a parking lot that needs repaired, you probably don’t want to spend the time and money to completely repave it. Well at Mr. Pavement, we have a solution: our asphalt patching repair process. If your damage isn’t severe, our experts can take the steps to repair it quickly so that you can get it back to looking great and back to driving on it.
Patching vs. Resurfacing
You may be thinking “Why don’t I just resurface my asphalt instead of patch it?” While you can easily choose to do this, there are a few things to know about the difference between the two options. Patching is often used for areas that have minimal damage like small cracks and holes. Resurfacing, on the other hand, is often used for asphalt with more severe damage. In addition, resurfacing takes more time, so if time is a factor for you, you may want to take that into consideration.
Our Process
Before we begin our asphalt patching repair process, we want to make sure that your driveway, parking lot, patio, or walkway is completely clean, so we perform a thorough process that involves removing dirt, vegetation, and debris from your asphalt. After that, we’ll wash it down and make sure it’s completely dry before we start.
After we determine which areas of your asphalt need attention, we’ll determine what patching technique to use on each area and we’ll explain the process to you fully so that you understand what will happen.
For some situations, we may fill the hole or crack with the proper amount of liquid asphalt and then compact it down so that it fills in the entire area. If needed, we’ll repeat this process. For other situations, we may cut back the area and then fill it in with a patching mix. This patching mix will also be compacted down so that it fills in the area. Finally, we may use a high-pressure technique that involves injecting aggregate and emulsion into your damaged area; because of the high pressure, we won’t need to compact it.
